Head of Property Assets

The OrganisationHavelock Housing has been operating for over 70 years and now provides safe and secure housing to over 450 people from disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in the Canberra area.  They are the largest provider of Disability Housing in the ACT, operating essential 24 hour care packages to enable independent living and housing choices to people living with disability.  Their portfolio of properties includes the heritage listed Havelock House. which is now home to 100 people at any one time, and is of huge cultural importance to the area.  Demand for Havelock's services is  huge, with supply unable to keep up with demand.  The Havelock board has established a growth strategy to address this issue, with organic growth through development and program expansion identified for the coming years.  A leadership team has been designed to match the needs of a growing organisation, with three new roles identified:Head of Property and AssetsHead of Corporate ServicesHead of Housing and CommunitiesThis is a rare opportunity to join a newly created leadership team, to make your mark upon the future of a growing and ambitious provider of essential services to those who need it most.  The RoleThe Head of Property Assets is responsible for the maintenance of the portfolio of residential properties, ensuring that homes are safe, secure and fit for purpose.  This involves the design and delivery of the cyclical and responsive maintenance programs, to ensure that all legislative requirements are met.  Strong leadership of the assets team is vital, in order to ensure that response timeframes are met, budgets are managed and programs are delivered.   In addition to the management of the existing property portfolio, the Head of Property Assets also leads on its expansion.  In order to meet the required growth targets, the portfolio will be organically grown via tenders, property acquisitions and property development. There will be four direct reports initially, with team expansion planned in line with organic, organisational growth.  The Ideal CandidateExperience in managing (and developing) a large portfolio of residential properties is essential, specifically leading on the cyclical and responsive maintenance and all associated legislative requirements.  You must hold a relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as project management, planning or property / asset management.  Experience within the NFP sector is desirable, but genuine dedication to drive for change and deliver outcomes to those in need is essential.  Essential Criteria In addition, the following essential criteria applies:ACT Working with Children CheckAustralia Federal Police Check ACT drivers licenceFully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless medically exempt)HHA is committed to celebrating and promoting diversity and providing an inclusive work environment for all employees.  We are committed to creating a working environment that is fair and flexible, promotes personal and professional growth, and benefits from the capabilities of its diverse workforce. Through our recruitment and selection processes, we seek to ensure that our workforce is representative of the communities that we serve.  We encourage applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants regardless of gender, age, culture, class, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity, Indigeneity, family and caring responsibilities or religion.Please refer to the attached position description for full details of the role's requirement and selection criteria.  If the PD is not available on this job board that you are viewing this on, please navigate to http://jobs.bloomhr.com.au/ and the individual job advertisement where it can be downloaded.  Position Description AUD Australia - ACT ACT Canberra 2902
