Driven by the values of Courage, Focus, Collaboration, Respect and Communication, SEARMS is dedicated to providing safe, sustainable housing and elevating the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.The OpportunityBased in Canberra, the Housing Team Leader will provide hands-on leadership to SEARMS’ housing team - championing high-quality tenancy services, embedding best practice, and ensuring the organisation meets its operational and compliance commitments.This is your chance to lead a team that is passionate, values-driven, and committed to positive change.In this role, you will:Lead, mentor, and empower a Housing team to deliver responsive, culturally safe, high-quality tenancy services.Provide expert guidance on complex tenancy matters, including NCAT preparation and representation.Oversee tenancy operations including sign-ups, rent reviews, arrears, lease management, and dispute resolution.Ensure policies and practices are trauma-informed, compliant, and aligned with NRSCH/ASES standards.Monitor and report on tenancy performance, KPIs, arrears, anti-social behaviour, and compliance.Build trusted relationships with tenants, external partners, community stakeholders, and internal teams.Drive continuous improvement and contribute to strengthening service delivery and team capability. About YouYou’re a confident, people-focused leader with strong housing or property management experience and the ability to guide others through complexity. In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrated experience preparing for and presenting at NCAT hearings.
  • At least 3 years’ leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong skills in tenancy management, dispute resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
  • High-level organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tenancy systems (e.g., Console).
