Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association (ACHIA) NSW is the peak body representing Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) in NSW. There are approximately 167 ACHPs in NSW including those managing properties with a significant geographic footprint as well as Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) and Aboriginal Corporations (ACs) who own properties with smaller, more localised housing portfolios.The RoleThe passionate team at ACHIA are now looking for a Housing Industry Development Manager to join the team. Working in the Sector Development area of ACHIA NSW, you will be the forward facing worker who is engaging with ACHPs, Government and other Industry partners. ACHIA NSW uses an Incubator-Accelerator service provision model.Within the framework of the Incubator-Accelerator, you will be responsible for managing and delivering a variety of projects within the ACHP industry. The aim of these projects is to engineer sectoral capability uplift and workforce development. The ultimate goal is to ensure that through providing a range of culturally appropriate housing, the ACHP sector enhances the life opportunities and outcomes of Aboriginal people in NSW.The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education, skills, competencies and experience:Tertiary qualifications in Housing, Community Development or Business Management is highly regarded.5+ years management experience in Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations is essential; additionally, experience in ACCO-led housing services is advantageous#Senior Operations level in a government department or similar peak body experience is highly regarded.Demonstrated up-to-date understanding of the social housing landscape in NSWAbove average understanding of logistical, ethical and human rights issues affecting Aboriginal peopleKnowledge of cultural protocols and a track record of engagement with First Nations across NSWCreativity and an entrepreneurial spiritSound analytical skills and the ability to develop and lead a line of critical questioningAbove average written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of current government policy and innovation within the social and community housing industrySound computing skills – especially the MS Office suite of programs,Experience tracking projects, including budget expenditure, initiating timely, effective financial responsesUnrestricted NSW Driver’s LicenseProjects will be varied and will require some travel within NSW.This position is a12 month max term F/T position with the possibility of extension.This is an identified Aboriginal Position. The Role

  • Unrestricted NSW Driver’s License

Projects will be varied and will require some travel within NSW.
