Due to internal movement, the team are seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join their Hobart-based team in a permanent part-time capacity. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, capable tenancy professional who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and relationship-based work.
About the role
- Permanent part-time role (0.75 FTE / 26.6 hours per week)
- Flexible working hours available â shorter days across 5 days or longer days across 3 or 4 days
- Based in a small, close-knit Hobart office.
- Strong preference for in-office collaboration during probation.
This role will suit someone who is comfortable working independently, can manage their own workload, and brings solid, hands-on housing or tenancy experience. You’ll need confidence in your judgement and the ability to operate without constant oversight.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing end-to-end tenancy relationships to support long-term housing outcomes.
- Handling rent arrears, property inspections, tenancy risks and tenancy transitions.
- Building trusted relationships with tenants, including people with complex needs
- Working closely with internal teams including Allocations, Sustainment and NDIS
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act and SDA requirements
About you
- Proven experience as a Housing Officer in social, community or public housing, or private real estate
- Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Highly organised, accountable and able to work autonomously
- Confident navigating tenancy legislation and compliance requirements
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team environment
- Relevant qualifications in housing, social services or related fields (or equivalent experience)
