AbSec - NSW Child, Family, and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation is the peak organisation advocating for the wellbeing of Aboriginal children, families, and communities in NSW. Governed by an all-Aboriginal board, we provide culturally informed policy advice, support community-controlled services, and deliver training through AbSec Learning and Development Centre (LDC).

The Role
AbsSec are currently looking for a skilled Marketing and Communications Coordinator to shape and amplify AbSec's brand identity. This role involves creating compelling content across various channels, managing media relationships, and supporting AbSec’s marketing campaigns. Working closely with the Communications and Memberships team, you’ll drive engagement and enhance AbSec’s visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality content, including media releases, newsletters, social media posts, and marketing materials.
- Oversee project management of the Annual Report, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Maintain consistency in AbSec’s brand voice and messaging across all platforms.
- Manage media relationships to enhance AbSec’s media presence.
- Support event coverage and content creation, reflecting community engagement and outcomes.
- Collaborate with designers and multimedia producers to create impactful visuals and videos.
- Implement SEO best practices to enhance website traffic and visibility.
Ideal Candidate
AbSec are seeking someone who:
- Has at least 1 year of experience in media, communications, marketing, or copywriting.
- Is skilled in managing media relationships and crafting compelling media releases.
- Demonstrates strong written communication and editing abilities with attention to detail.
- Has experience with email marketing platforms, WordPress, Canva, and the Adobe Suite.
- Excels in working both independently and within a team, meeting deadlines efficiently.
- Brings knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and communities and is committed to cultural sensitivity.
Desirable Qualities
- Knowledge of the NSW child protection system.
- Advanced skills in content creation using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
- Experience in photography and video production.
Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in media or communications, preferably in Aboriginal organisations, not-for-profits, or government.
- Strong relationship management and the ability to pitch media stories effectively.
- Expertise in creating targeted and high-impact communications across diverse formats.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and maintain high standards under tight deadlines.
