About the OrganisationSalvation Army Housing Victoria (SAHV) are a community housing organisation providing homes for individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, are on low incomes and those with specific support needs. SAHV run a range of programs which include Long Term, Transition Housing Management, Crisis Housing and rooming house properties.About the RoleThe team in the Sunshine Office are seeking a new Housing Worker on an ongoing temporary assignment, to be responsible for tenancy and property management in line with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). The successful candidate will ensure awareness of tenant and landlord roles and responsibilities and be responsible for ensuring the managed properties are of a good standard at all timesResponsibilities:Ensuring that tenancies within the portfolio are managed and maintained, leases are up to date, properties are inspected and reviewed, and rent reviews are managedKeeping tenant records accurate and up to date in the company softwareMaintaining data for all tenants in accordance with timelines, standards and proceduresAddressing high risk situations involving tenants within required time frames, as per policy and procedureProviding assistance to assess tenant issues, needs and circumstancesDeveloping strategies to address tenant needs within relevant policy and procedure and Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) guidelines To be successful in this role, you'll have:Client centric approachExperience working within community housing (highly desirable)Experience in tenancy/property management A committed work attitude, the ability to follow direction and have a high level of self-direction and accountabilityAn empathetic approach focused on tenant wellbeing and tenancy sustainmentExperience working with internal and external stakeholders, support agencies and community groups to encourage community participation and improve outcomes for tenants (highly desirable)Experience working with complex issues involving individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and coming from domestic violence  (highly desirable)This is a temporary opportunity with potential possibility for permanency. Essential CriteriaGood knowledge and understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act and/or community housing guidelinesHighly skilled administrator and experience within data record keepingIntermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suiteCurrent driver's licencePersonally, you will demonstrate commitment to work within The Salvation Army’s mission and values, resilience, adaptability and responsiveness.You must also be willing to undergo a police check and Working With Children Check.
