The Organisation The Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council (ILALC) is incorporated under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act NSW 1983 and covers an area from Helensburgh to Gerroa and includes the Southern Highlands areas from Tallong to Kangaroo Valley. ILALC’s key role is to improve, protect and foster the best interests of its members and community. This can only be achieved through land acquisition, land management, cultural education and sustainable development and the development of programs and initiatives with positive and tangible outcomes, as led by the engagement and participation of our members and community. The RoleILALC has a Natural Resources Management team, which forms part of the caring for Country business unit.  Its primary focus is to undertake caring for Country activities such as bush regeneration, rehabilitation, and other natural resources management services to a wide range of landowner stakeholders including local councils, government departments, businesses, and private owners. As part of this team, you will work within a diverse range of vegetation communities across the Illawarra and Southern Highlands.Benefits38 hour working weekAbove Award payNFP benefits including salary packagingSupport with ongoing development and attainment of relevant qualifications Essential Criteria:Willingness to obtain Certificate II Conservation Land and Eco-Systems Management (Award Level 2). Demonstrated experience in revegetation works including planting, mulching and plant maintenance.Demonstrated experience with the safe use and maintenance of power tools, light machinery, and hand tools in accordance with WH&S requirements.Demonstrated experience with the safe handling and use of hazardous substances and chemicals, such as herbicides.Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community, culture, and heritage.Physically fit and able to complete physically demanding work in outdoor environments.  Good communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.Ability to work independently to work plans, and within a team Current NSW drivers' licenseDesirable Criteria:Chainsaw operation certificationNSW White Card (CIC) and First Aid certificateChemcert CertificateExperience in the use of email, Office 365 (Word, Excel)Please Note: This position is an 'Aboriginal identified role' as permitted under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. The successful candidate as a condition of employment will need to provide a:Confirmation of Aboriginality,Criminal History Check (CRC),Working with Children Check (WWCC)  To apply:  Please submit your resume and covering letter via the 'Apply for this Job' link.
